About Kim

Kim Eshelman

Fine Artist

Kim lives and works in the Seattle area and her work is in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States.  Her paintings aim to express the essence of life, whether they touch a chord of disquiet or intriguing nostalgia. They are celebrations of all things as they are in the moment – a sweeping cloud over a landscape that reflects our smallness, or smog in a city mingling with the sunrise.

Jazz, her current body of work, is inspired by a longtime love affair with this musical genre. Her father was a tenor sax player and Kim has been interested in jazz from a young age. Planning with value and color studies are key to her process, but there’s usually a point in the painting where deviation from the original studies occur. Throughout her process she paints both on an easel and the floor, and many layers are added and removed until she’s satisfied with the result.

Her works are primarily acrylic and pastel.
